Rochester, NY––The 18th Edition of the CGI Rochester International Jazz Festival presented by M&T Bank wrapped up last night on another high note with extraordinary artists coming to play from around the world, attendance of more than 208,000 and a welcome nine days of sunshine!
This year's festival was held over nine days from June 21-29 in 20 venues in downtown Rochester with 1500+ artists from all over the world performing in 320+ shows.
The festival added three new Club Pass venues this year - Geva Theatre Center's Fielding and Wilson stages presented by Montage Wealth Management, and Squeezer's Stage at the M&T Pavilion.
A record 102 free shows and events were presented. Jazz Workshops sponsored by Wegmans drew record attendance as did the nightly Jam Sessions held all nine days at the Hyatt Regency Rochester.
John Nugent, Producer and Artistic Director said, "The 18th Edition of the CGI Rochester International Jazz Festival has proven to be the most well received program in our entire history! Outstanding performances by all artists, perfect weather, exceptional attendance and smiling club pass series attendees who have been transported to the heights of musical ecstasy during their annual passage of discovery. Marc and I would like to thank everyone, artists, sponsors and our patrons who have made this year’s festival a roaring success.”
Marc Iacona, Producer and Executive Director, said, “These past nine days have been the most overwhelmingly positive in our 18 years of producing the Jazz festival. There have been so many magical moments throughout the performances. The artists have expressed their appreciation for how knowledgeable and musical our Rochester community is. I am also so appreciative of all our festival sponsors who help make the program we present every year possible. We are looking forward to 2020 and beyond!”
